Shoulder Joint Mobilisation on Fresh Cadaver – Paris 2009
The second EUSSER cadaveric seminar took place in the anatomy labs at the University of Paris. The seminar was instructed by Olivier Gagey with assistance from Marco Conti. Demonstrations included relating the anatomy of the glenohumeral joint to function and implications on rehabilitation. One of the highlights during the dissection was injecting the bursa, its appearance and role.
Marco Conti presented a lecture on various aspects of arthroscopic surgery and repair techniques for the rotator cuff. There was then an opportunity for participants to be able to handle the cadavers and observe the impact various physiotherapeutic mobilisations have on the joint including the ‘sleeper stretch'.
Day two was a practical workshop looking at examination of the shoulder. Raphael Franck also demonstrated a simple method for measuring improvements following rehabilitation using the digital dynamometer as well as the use of appropriate exercises in a rehabilitation program.
There was an opportunity to make new friends and contacts during the course; everyone enjoyed a meal with French specialities on Friday evening. Feedback from participants was very positive both enjoyable and informative.
